Some people don’t believe in love at first sight, but when Taylor Glover saw Xinh Xi for the first time in April 2021 at a restaurant in Lexington, KY, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. “Our eyes kept meeting throughout the night, and before leaving, he finally asked for my number,” said Xinh. “We stayed up talking that night until four in the morning.”

The two began dating exclusively a few weeks later, and the romance blossomed from Sonic dates and Taylor’s serenades to wedding bells. Xinh fell in love with Taylor thanks to his penchant for making her laugh — even on her worst days — and his faithfulness in going the extra mile to make her happy.

Xinh and Taylor said, “I do,” on Sunday, June 12, in Louisville, KY.

The first time Taylor saw Xinh, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. They stayed up that night on the phone until the wee hours of the morning and quickly discovered it was meant to be.

Xinh said she quickly fell in love with Taylor because he always made her smile, even during her most challenging days. He also goes out of his way to do sweet things like picking up flowers for her.

The couple quickly knew they were meant to be, and when they discovered they were expecting earlier this year, they decided it was time to tie the knot. Thrilled, Taylor popped the question at Xinh’s parents’ house one Sunday after mass. He showed up at the front door wearing his Army uniform and dropped to one knee in front of Xinh and her family. Xinh’s answer was an immediate “Yes!”

After celebrating the engagement, Xinh hit the ground running as she planned the entire wedding in just three weeks with help from her mom, Taylor’s aunt, and other family and friends.

“For those three weeks, my entire life was wedding planning,” Xinh said. “We wanted to get married before Taylor left for military training, and with the baby arriving in November, a June wedding seemed to be our best option.”

Choosing the wedding venue was a no-brainer. Xinh and Taylor exchanged traditional wedding vows on Sunday, June 12, at 2:30 in the afternoon during an intimate ceremony at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where Xinh’s parents were married and where Xinh grew up. Making the ceremony even more sentimental, the same priest who married Xinh’s parents officiated the wedding.

The couple exchanged vows in the same church where the bride’s parents were married, and she received her first communion.

With only one day to find the dress, Xinh set out with her mom and cousin (plus her aunts on Facetime) to visit a few stores. Unfortunately, they weren’t having much luck. Sofia’s Bridal & Tux in Louisville was the third or fourth stop, and by that time, Xinh was exhausted.

“I explained that I needed a wedding dress, and I needed it fast, and everyone at Sofia’s was so sweet and accommodating!” said Xinh. “I tried on six or seven dresses before choosing the one. I knew because I immediately started sobbing when I put it on.”

Xinh knew from the moment she put on the dress that it was “the one.”

When Xinh glided down the aisle on her wedding day, she was radiant in her classic, floor-length gown, featuring long sleeves, delicate lace detailing, chic cutouts, and a graceful train with dainty scalloped edges.

Xinh always dreamed of an all-white wedding — a diversion from the pinks and reds found in traditional Vietnamese weddings. She persisted with her vision and made her dream come true … with some help, of course. Her mom, along with family and church members, designed all-white floral arrangements for the ceremony and reception, with orchids, hydrangeas, and calla lilies. Complementing her classic look, Xinh carried a bouquet of white orchids designed by Amy Goforth at Nanz & Kraft Florist.

The intimate bridal party consisted of the couple’s closest friends.

Following the ceremony, the festivities relocated to the iconic Churchill Downs, the perfect venue for showing off Xinh and Taylor’s home state to out-of-town family members and friends. The 200 guests looked on as Xinh and Taylor kicked off the dancing to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli while enjoying tasty appetizers and a buffet featuring lettuce wraps, short ribs, and a mashed potato bar, all catered by Churchill Downs.

The ceremony and reception flowers were designed by the bride’s mother, friends, and fellow church members.

For the cake, Xinh and Taylor selected a classic vanilla buttercream from Dalat’s Gateaux and Cafe, a local Vietnamese bakery that was Xinh’s go-to spot for bánh mì and sweet treats when she was growing up.

“The cafe was always my childhood favorite. The former owner came out of retirement to make the wedding cake for us, so it was really special,” Xinh tells us.

As the reception drew to a close, Taylor took the stage and “surprised” Xinh, in front of their closest friends, with his rendition of Randy Travis’ “Forever and Ever, Amen.”

Xinh says, “He thought it was going to be a surprise, but he would sing to me on all of our dates, so I knew it was coming.”

The classic vanilla buttercream cake came from Dalat’s Gateaux and Cafe, a local Vietnamese bakery that’s a longtime favorite of the bride.

Following the reception, the couple departed for the afterparty, held at a family member’s home, but not before picking up their favorite late-night snacks and Icees! Before joining the party inside, Xinh and Taylor remained in their car and, for the first time, read the personal wedding vows they had written for each other.

“It was a really sweet and special moment,” remembered Xinh.

As for the honeymoon, a tropical destination is on the radar for the future. In the meantime, Xinh and Taylor are staying close to home and tackling renovations before baby Glover arrives this fall, making this new family a happy party of three.
