Alex’s Tavern (also known as Memphis’ oldest tavern) is known for its delicious food and dive bar vibe. They’re known for their famous “Greek Burger,” so if you’re starving, that should be your go-to. We’ve also heard their wings are some of the best in town … but we’ll let you be the judge.

SB Tip: This is the spot for you if you’re into grilled cheese. Choose from the “Deluxe Grilled Cheese,” “Caprese Grilled Cheese,” or “Grilled American Cheese.” Their kitchen closes at 1 a.m., so grab a seat before then!

531 S Main St, Memphis, TN 38103 • (901) 523-9754
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.; Closed Monday and Tuesday
One of the greatest dive bars in Memphis (in our humble opinion), Earnestine & Hazel’s serves up the greasy-but-oh-so-tasty Soul Burger, which you can score for a five-spot during happy hour and $6 the rest of the time. Sounds like a win-win.
Huey’s
Multiple locations around Memphis
With several locations around the 901, there’s likely a Huey’s near you. Begin your meal with some cheese fries or a sausage and cheese plate, then order the famous Huey burger, which is simply mouthwatering. Other great options include the fiesta chicken wrap and chicken kabobs. It’s all yummy, so you can’t go wrong with anything from the extensive menu.
Local Main Street
95 S Main St, Memphis, TN 38103 • (901) 343-0872
Hours: Daily, 11 a.m. to midnight
Not only does Local on Main Street have late-night dining, but it also offers draft beers and craft cocktails to complement your meal. Sliders, pasta, pretzels — you name it, they’ve got it! Head there after a Grizzlies game or a show at The Orpheum.

Newby’s motto is “The Bar You Never Graduate From,” which indicates the fun atmosphere. But above and beyond the vibe, Newby’s offers food that will keep you coming back. From pizzas to chicken tenders, the bar menu is full of options. Plus, you can grab $1 drafts when the Memphis Tigers win!

Slider Inn may be known for its Jameson slushie (a frozen blend of Jameson Irish Whiskey, house-squeezed lemonade, ginger beer, and bitters), but the food is pretty awesome too. You can mix and match your own sliders meal, including options such as Caribbean jerk-spiced pork tenderloin, buffalo chicken, or mushroom and Swiss. Grab some nachos, tacos, or wings if you’re not in the mood for sliders.

Westy’s has been located in the Pinch District for over 39 years, and it’s still going strong! It might take a minute to decide what you want because the menu is that large. They’ve got your typical wings, pasta, and sandwiches, but you can also look forward to a wide selection of wild rice plates, Creole dishes, and tamales. Plus, it’s an open bar, so you can order whatever drink your heart desires!
Young Avenue Deli
2119 Young Ave, Memphis, TN 38104 • (901) 278-0034
Hours: Daily, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Located in Midtown, Young Avenue Deli has more than just sandwiches, despite its name. You can make your own pizza or quesadilla, order wings, nachos, chili cheese fries, and more. Plus, the selection of local draft beer is impressive on its own. Stick around for a meal after watching a game on the big projectors, or shoot some pool to work up an appetite.
