Not a fan of needles? This new facelift procedure is needle-free, all-natural, quick, and painless — and it can make you look up to a decade younger. Emface uses electrical stimulation to strengthen delicate facial tissues to create a more youthful look. This unique, industry-changing treatment is now available at A Beautiful You Medical Spa, located in Memphis and founded by husband and wife duo JL and Lorrie Fisk. We sat down with JL to learn more about this innovative treatment.

As individuals begin to age, the “triangle of youth” often becomes inverted, meaning the lower parts of the face become fuller and lead to drooping skin, flattened cheeks, and a sagging jawline. Emface was created to combat this aging process. “Emface is an industry-changing approach to wrinkle reduction,” explains JL. “It uses an electromagnetic process to stimulate facial muscles.”

Emface is the first and only hands-free, non-invasive device that remodels, smooths, and tones facial muscles without needles — and it’s offered locally at A Beautiful You Medical Spa. Results may vary/may not be typical

JL adds that Emface is truly a one-of-a-kind treatment, as other options try to combat aging with CO2 lasers, radiofrequency, or microneedling. However, these devices can sometimes fail to regenerate muscles, stimulate the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds the body), and lift and move fat pads back to where they’re supposed to be. “When it comes to creating a lifted look, we have been faking it with injections,” explains JL. “Emface is totally new and something we have never seen or been able to do before. We have never been able to treat the structure of the face and get the client to the next level with muscle stimulation. Emface is literally a workout for your face.”

This workout is done through two forms of energy. Emface used radiofrequency energy to help produce collagen and elastin, which firms up skin and smooths out lines and wrinkles. The treatment also used a second form of energy called high-intensity focused electrical stimulation (HIFES), which tones the facial muscles.

Perhaps the most significant difference between Emface and other treatments is that it does not require needles, which means no downtime is needed. In fact, most patients can resume normal day-to-day activities almost immediately after treatment. “It’s an all-natural process without toxins or injections,” adds JL. “It’s reversing father time and helping people who are usually left out of similar treatments. It’s an entry into anti-aging.”

Emface is like two treatments in one, using radiofrequency energy and high-intensity focused electrical stimulation (HIFES) to reverse signs of aging in the face, forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, and jawline. Results may vary/may not be typical

Before beginning treatment, JL invites patients for a free consultation. “That’s when we talk about the process and determine what someone needs based on their facial structure,” he explains. “We typically start with four sessions and then add maintenance sessions as needed.”

When it comes to the treatment itself, it’s relatively painless and does not require topical agents or anesthesia. To begin, three electromagnetic pads are placed on your face — one on the forehead and one on each cheek. Most patients feel slight twitching and warming sensations as the pads heat up and begin to pull and lift the forehead and cheeks, but no pain or discomfort is typically involved.

At A Beautiful You Medical Spa, patients can receive four Emface treatments and two touch-up sessions in a single package. The number of sessions a patient needs is typically determined during the initial consultation. Results may vary/may not be typical

JL adds that most people start noticing results in as little as two weeks after a single treatment, and patients usually require a minimum of four 20-minute sessions. “We typically look at it in terms of decades, so older patients may need more sessions,” he adds. “We like to say one treatment more per decade.”

According to JL, Emface is a good treatment option for almost anyone who wants younger-looking skin — especially those who might be weary of lasers or botox. “While Emface won’t replace lasers or botox, it opens doors for more people to participate in anti-aging treatments and prevents the need for other treatments,” says JL.

According to BTL, Emface’s manufacturer, the treatment improves muscle tone by 30%, reduces wrinkles by 37%, and lifts skin and muscle by 23%. Results may vary/may not be typical

Not only is Emface used by a medically trained professional at A Beautiful You Medical Spa, but it’s the only place in the Memphis area offering the treatment. “BTL, Emface’s manufacturer, chose us to launch the device based on our experience and reputation,” says JL. “We’ve done a lot of research about the equipment we use, and we’re convinced this is going to be an industry changer.”
