If your goal is to feel great about how you look in 2023, you’ll want to know about these three innovative procedures offered at NuBody Concepts in Germantown. We sat down with Practice Manager Lori Knowles and Board-certified Plastic Surgeon Mark H. Peters, MD to learn more about the treatments, how to tell if you’re a good candidate, and why NuBody Concepts is a leading destination for all of them.

Before deciding what type of cosmetic procedures are best for you, it’s essential to identify your specific goals and desires. For example, do you want a flatter stomach or younger-looking skin? Or perhaps you’re seeking a self-care treatment that doesn’t involve surgery and requires little downtime. NuBody Concepts offers a personalized, patient-centered approach to help you answer these questions — starting with the consultation process.

In addition to its in-house operating room and board-certified plastic surgeon, NuBody Concepts in Germantown excels in its patient-centered approach to care.

As NuBody Concepts’ Practice Manager, Lori meets with every patient before they see the surgeon. She gains a solid understanding of what they hope to accomplish with their treatment, so they can look and feel like the best version of themselves. “We want to understand the patient’s end goal post-surgery,” Lori tells us. “We want to meet that goal and ensure patients walk out feeling assured and better than they did when they first came in.”

Following the initial consultation, patients meet with both Lori and Dr. Mark H. Peters, NuBody’s lead surgeon in Memphis, to develop a treatment plan. From there, an all-inclusive quote is developed, which covers all surgery, facility, and anesthesia costs (and that means you’re not going to receive a surprising bill at the end of your treatment!). While we’re only beginning to scratch the surface of services offered at NuBody Concepts, here are three stand-out options that are often done alone or bundled together:

Tummy Tucks

Dr. Peters says a tummy tuck is one of the most popular procedures he performs. With over 25 years of experience and an in-house operating room, it’s no wonder so many patients trust Dr. Peters and NuBody Concepts to carry out this treatment. “Patients trust us because of our experience,” explains Dr. Peters. “I’ve been doing this for a very long time, and I’ve done a lot of tummy tucks. The other big advantage is that we have an operating room in the office.”

In terms of the treatment itself, Dr. Peters says it’s a relatively straightforward process: “A tummy tuck tightens the stomach and makes someone look more youthful in their figure because we’re cinching in their waistline and tightening their abdominal muscles.” This makes the procedure an excellent option for someone with extra skin or elasticity around their abdomen due to pregnancy or significant weight loss.

Dr. Peters says he sometimes recommends liposuction in addition to a tummy tuck to give patients an even more youthful appearance.

The surgery itself is a one-time operation, and recovery takes up to two weeks, with most patients returning to their day-to-day activities about three to five days after surgery. Dr. Peters adds that both men and women can undergo a tummy tuck as long as their body mass index (BMI) falls between 30 and 35.

BodyTite & FaceTite

In addition to traditional surgical procedures like a tummy tuck, NuBody Concepts also offers minimally invasive options for patients who want a treatment that requires less downtime and scarring. Two such examples are BodyTite and FaceTite. These skin-tightening treatments use radiofrequency energy and controlled heat to remove extra tissue from the body. BodyTite is used on areas like the stomach, arms, and thighs, while FaceTite can be used on the neck or face.

These are both great options for what Dr. Peters calls a “gap patient” — someone who is not at the point of needing a tummy tuck or facelift but still wants to remove excess tissue from specific areas. “It depends on where the patient is and their goals,” adds Dr. Peters. “We want to know what the person is trying to accomplish and then match them with the procedure that would do that.”

Unlike tummy tucks, which are more invasive and require more downtime, most patients recover from skin tightening in one to five days. Results are typically seen a week after the procedure and continue to improve for up to 12 months.

“BodyTite and FaceTite have their limitations,” explains Dr. Peters, “but the treatments are best for someone I would call a ‘gap patient,’ where the patient is not ready for a facelift or a tummy tuck — they’re somewhere in between.”

Morpheus8

For a non-invasive skin tightening treatment, NuBody Concepts offers Morpheus8, which typically requires three treatments that are done four to six weeks apart. Like BodyTite and FaceTite, Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and remove excess tissue. “Morpheus8 uses microneedles to penetrate the skin and release radio frequency energy into the tissues, which produces heat that will cause the tissues to tighten over time,” explains Dr. Peters. This is what leads to smoother, younger-looking skin.

Much like BodyTite and FaceTite, Dr. Peters says Morpheus8 is another great option for gap patients. “The most common age group I see is probably between 40 and 50 years old. That’s when aging is starting to happen, and skin starts to sag,” he explains. “I use Morpheus8 on that kind of patient because they’re not ready for and don’t need a facelift, but I see what sagging skin they’re talking about.”

Dr. Peters will sometimes pair FaceTite and Morpheus8 together to help patients achieve younger-looking skin: “I’ll sometimes add Morpheus8 on top of FaceTite. The deeper tissues will be treated by FaceTite, while the more superficial — like three to four millimeters of tissue — is covered by Morpheus8.”

No matter the treatment you opt for at NuBody Concepts, you can expect a personalized, one-on-one experience from start to finish. “In addition to the expense, we know plastic surgery is a big decision — especially if you’re treating something you’ve been self-conscious about for a long time,” explains Lori. “Patient care and being able to do everything here in the office are very important to us.”
