I love making beautiful flower arrangements with lots of colors and textures. But, sometimes I just need pretty and I need it FAST … and my creative juices aren’t always in overdrive. Today, I’m sharing #1 fallback tip to ensure pretty floral arrangements. The look is so stylish and gorgeous that even with plenty of time and an unlimited budget, you just may follow this exact same path.

The #1 Tip to Easy Floral Arrangements

So, what is the tip? Buy lots of different flowers that are all the same color. Seriously, this is the easiest way to vases filled with beautiful arrangements.

No matter how you pair them, they work. It’s easy and provides a sense of continuity when you need several arrangements across your house or table. Plus, you can use this method to shop your local grocery store’s floral department (we usually get ours at Kroger) and have great results.

I tend to use white or yellow for my arrangements, and combing these two colors works as well (that makes two tips!). And, remember that you can add loads of green “filler” to all arrangements.

And, as we’re talking floral tips, a few more would be to cut your stems down so that you don’t have a vase with inches of stems showing above the top of the vase. This mistake is made so often and a pair of scissors easily cures this unprofessional look.

Lastly, if your vase has a wide mouth, consider using clear tape to make a grid across the top. Then, place your stems in the openings and this will help keep your flowers separated for a “full” look without them falling to the sides.

Below are examples of flower arrangements in one color made for a variety of dinner parties.

Thai dinner party wooden plates and orchids

For this Thai dinner party, all the flowers used were white. Here are some white orchids as well as floating white candles.

Different white orchids were used for this arrangement at the same Thai dinner party. But, sticking to one color brought all the different tables together for a unified look, even though each table showcased different dishes and decor.

Yellow Flowers

These were yellow flowers picked up at Kroger. When they are all the same color, it’s easy to make a pretty arrangement!

More of the Kroger flowers … we could have added more greenery and really jazzed them up, but the point was to showcase quickly how you can add fresh flowers to your house, using several different varieties and sticking to one color palette.

One color flower arranging always works!

Even a small vase with a few flowers looks sweet and perfect.

And here, we have both colors together, which also makes for great looking bouquets! Note that the stems are cut to be full right above the mouth of the vase.

So, now you have the lazy girls’ #1 tip to flower arranging: just pick flowers of the same color, and you are golden!
