The treatment itself is minimally invasive and a one-time event. The best part? Most patients start to see results almost immediately. “You’ll see some immediate results and swelling, but that swelling should be less apparent and settle down after about a week,” explains Dr. Rosdeutscher. “By the next day, you might feel a little sore and might not feel like doing everything, but you can pretty much resume your daily activities. There are really no restrictions.”
Another reason Avéli stands out against other cellulite treatments — perhaps the most significant — is its permanence. Once it separates the septa, they are separated in that specific area forever. “In terms of releasing those septa, once they’re released, they’re released,” says Sara. “That does not mean that over time (as patients either gain weight, lose weight, or experience hormonal changes), they might not develop dimples in other areas.”
Using the Avéli device takes up to an hour and a half, depending on how many areas someone needs to be treated. To help with discomfort, Dr. Rosdeutscher uses a numbing process similar to the one for tumescent liposuction.
