There are so many different recipes for whipped feta. Whipped feta is hard to get wrong, so most of the recipes out there are likely good. But what I’ve seen is that many are too complicated. Y’all, whipped feta is EASY.
I look at this whipped feta as two easy recipes, depending on your mood, each requiring a slightly different variation.
Do I want my whipped feta to have the consistency of Greek yogurt, or do I want it to be thick yet spreadable? Each consistency difference requires a different recipe.
I’ve made these recipes so easy that once you’ve read them, I think you’ll have them in your brain forever!
Tip: DO NOT USE CRUMBLED FETA! You want to only use a block of moist feta. Sorry about that word choice; I know the “m” word is a problem for many people …
For a creamy yogurt consistency, the recipe is two parts feta to one part whipped cream cheese (2:1). Not cream cheese — whipped cream cheese.
For thicker, spreadable whipped feta — and it’s my personal favorite for taste — use four parts feta to one part whipped cream cheese to one part ricotta cheese (4:1:1).
How does this play out?
- 8-oz. block of feta + 4 oz. of whipped cream cheese
- 8-oz. block of feta + 2 oz. of whipped cream cheese + 2 oz. of ricotta cheese
Thinking about this in terms of proportions helps because your favorite block of feta may come in a different size than eight ounces, or you may have a different amount on hand. Plus, you can easily double it or make it on the fly when you think of this recipe in proportions instead of ounces.

Tips: You want to use a food processor or a standup blender. At first, the mixture will look crumbly. DO NOT ADD WATER OR MILK! Just keep blending for about two minutes, and the consistency will change. I promise you that it will!
Once your whipped feta is ready, you can decide how to top it. Yum!
Here are three ways to top your whipped feta, no matter which recipe you use. Also, I topped all of these delicious options with Za’atar, a Middle Eastern-inspired spice blend. I use the Private Selection brand, found at Kroger.

This is the whipped feta recipe that is 2:1 feta to whipped cream cheese. Then, I topped it with pesto, chopped tomatoes, crushed salted pistachios, and green onions. For serving, I like to have different heights with the food I’ve put out. It’s just prettier, and I’m into the visual nature of food presentation. For this photo, the whipped feta is on a plate placed on a cake stand with the pita chips in a bowl below.

This recipe is the whipped feta made with ricotta cheese. Again, that recipe is four parts feta to one part whipped cream cheese to one part ricotta cheese. I’ve topped it with fresh dill, chopped Castelvetrano olives, and green onions. I’ve served it here on the same cake stand I used in the photo above this one, but as this recipe is the thicker one, I did not need a plate with a large lip to hold the mixture. Instead, I placed it directly onto the cake stand.

This whipped feta is the 2:1 ratio of feta cheese to whipped cream cheese; thus, the consistency is a bit more like yogurt. This McCarty pottery plate works well for it. I topped it with Kroger’s hot honey, sliced almonds, and green onions. I tend to add green onions — or something fresh and green — to almost everything I present, as it makes everything more appealing!

Ingredients
Whipped Feta Creamy Consistency
- 8 oz. block of feta Boar's Head is a great option.
- 4 oz. whipped cream cheese I use Kroger's house brand.
Whipped Feta Thicker Consistency
- 8 oz. block of feta
- 2 oz. whipped cream cheese
- 2 oz. ricotta cheese I use Kroger's house brand, or I make the ricotta cheese myself.
Tomato, Pesto toppings
- chopped tomatoes
- chopped pistachios
- pesto
- chopped green onions
Dill, Olive toppings
- fresh dill
- chopped Castelvetrano olives
- chopped green onions
Hot Honey toppings
- hot honey I use the Kroger brand. It's a dark honey with a good kick!
- sliced almonds
- chopped green onions
On all varieties
- Za'atar spice blend I used Private Selection, found at Kroger
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a food processor or standup blender.
- Blend for two minutes
- If you need the consistency to be thicker, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- If you make this hours or days in advance, you'll want to take it out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before you start to plate and top it.
- Choose which topping group you'd like to use and place them on the whipped feta, then serve with bread, pita chips, or crackers.
- Enjoy!
